East Hills Neighborhood Association

Richard Akers is a graduate of the University of Tennessee college of Electrical Engineering and is employed as a design engineer with the Epiphone Guitar Corp. He has two children, Luke and Natalie. Richard currently serves as President of the East Hill Neighborhood Association.

 

Eastwood Neighbors Association

The objectives of Eastwood Neighbors, Inc. are:

* To unite the residents of the neighborhood by bringing neighbors together in more frequent contact with each other and encouraging them to plan and work together;

* To preserve and enhance the neighborhood's residential character by
seeking policies of zoning and codes enforcement;

* To cooperate and affiliate in appropriate ways with other local, state,
and national organizations having compatible goals; and

* To promote the general welfare of the neighborhood.

Please join us at our once-a-month meetings to voice your concerns, meet your neighbors and help build a stronger East Nashville community. We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, 7 p.m. at Eastwood Christian Church, 1601 Eastland Avenue, 37206.

Annual dues for the Eastwood Neighbors, Inc. Association are:

$15 per household, or,
$10 for seniors and fixed low income.

Mothers Helping Others

Mothers Helping Others Inc. was formed as a charitable organisation designed to help young families within Australia and internationally through designated projects.

We hope that through our projects, we will be able to improve physical conditions of facilities used by families and their children.

But most importantly, we hope to empower others, despite whatever hardships they face, to be proactive members of their communities and foster the belief that they can make a difference.

The Nashville Auto-Diesel College has designed a mobile kitchen in efforts to help East Nashville single families earn monies needed and allows I. C. White Stone space for community meetings.

NADC strives to meet our mission of excellence by offering the comprehensive training and education necessary to prepare graduates for initiating a life-long career in their chosen technical area. At NADC you'll not only receive hands-on training in the auto-diesel, collision and refinishing repair, or high performance industries - you'll build a solid foundation for a successful and rewarding future.

Nashville Auto-Diesel College provides programs that focus on automotive and diesel technician training. NADC has partnered with Lincoln Tech and BMW of North America, LLC to provide access to the BMW STEP program. Renraw Community Association

In March, 2002 a small group of neighbors got together to talk about and plan ways to improve their neighborhood in response to concerns about neighborhood issues and conditions including declining property values, codes violations, crime, traffic, absentee landlords and the growth of in the neighborhood.

The boundaries of the Community Association are Carolyn Avenue (North), Inga Street (West), Strouse Avenue (South) and Gallatin Road (East). The goals of the Renraw Community Association are to Network with all neighbors; Develop neighborhood involvement and awareness; keep the neighborhood safe from crime whether vice, drugs, property crimes and traffic; communicate and educate residents about issues and concerns; monitor compliance with Metro codes and report codes violations; maintain contact with and open channels of communication with organizations in our neighborhood and with Nashville city officials.

The Renraw Community Association meets the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM. The meeting location is the Church of God of Prophecy located at 901 Strouse Avenue. Meetings provide an opportunity to hear a guest speaker, discuss neighborhood issues, and plan neighborhood events. John and Carol Wendt

John and Carol Wendt have lived in the Renraw neighborhood for more than 20 years and have worked with other neighbors to provide leadership for the neighborhood association for the past five years. They raised two daughters who are now grown and living in other cities. Carol works as a music teacher for Metro schools and John works in the human resources field. In addition to their involvement with the Renraw Community Association they are involved with various neighborhood coalitions and with the Margaret Maddox Family YMCA.
