infoOverview

The I.C.White Stone Foundation is a 501 c 3, Faith-Based, neighborhood organization in East Nashville that seeks to grow into every neighborhood where single mothers live. East Nashville has over 25 different neighborhood associations and ICWS seeks to meet with each one to identify every single mother willing and needing to link up with a network of help and resources. These East Nashville single mothers are holding each other accountable in three areas:

  1. Single Mothers Network: For individual empowerment, let’s face it, no since waiting because child support may never come.
    To help empower single mothers financially for themselves, their family, and to replace the negative undertone single mothers endure via adding value to their standing in the community by increasing their participation by volunteering in the community. And to help single mothers prepare and tour college campuses.

  2. Vice Chancellors Youth Council: (VC – YC) youth 12 – 18 years old, provides Nashville’s youth being raised by single parents with an active role in addressing statistics and issues specifically leading to the high numbers of youths not entering and graduating from college. Statistics like youth being raised in single parent homes being more likely;

    -to be poor
    -to have health problems
    -to drop out of school
    -to be teen parents
    -to be involved with criminal activity than those children who grow up in an intact two parent household.

  3. Gems and Gemstones: (youth 0 – 11 years old) This is a prerequisite for the VC – YC. Younger youth are taught altruism and the importance of giving back through volunteering. Education and literacy is stressed and youth put together service projects on topics of their interest..

Mission

To help reduce added financial and emotional stress facing single mothers, so they can concentrate on nurturing and educating their children to be healthy adults.
